Preparing for my Stampin' Up! Class

I always get asked about how I prep for my classes.  This is a picture of my craft room as I get ready for the girls to arrive.  As you can see they each have a basket in front of their setting.  Everyone gets a basket with a different project and everything you need to make that project is in the basket... stamps, ribbon, card stock, ink pads, etc.  Then when they are done with one basket, I rotate and give them a new one.  This keeps the class moving and no one has to wait for supplies.

These are the baskets with some of tonight's projects.  This basket holds a "BOO" Halloween banner for decoration.  I will post pictures of the class projects later.

This basket has one of the Fall cards we are making tonight.

I like to give everyone that comes to my class a little treat.  You can see the gifts are all ready for them at their place settings.  This month I made cute little candle T-light flowers.

You must have chocolate at a stamping class... it's a must!  Some of the projects tonight are Halloween themed so I had a last minute brainstorm to make Tombstones to go on the tables as centerpieces.  I put one at each end and filled them with candy.

Organizing Tips.. Stampin' Up! Cardstock

This is how I keep my 8 1/2 x 11 Stampin' Up! Cardstock organized.  I bought this paper rack from a local craft store that was going out of business.  I've had it for over 10 years and I love it... I like that it's compact and stores my cardstock vertically.  I stack the cardstock according to the Stampin' Up! color families.  You can see the little strips I have with the colors and names.  I created the strips in MDS and laminated.

I know that most crafters are challenged on how to store their paper scraps. I like to put my scraps in a hanging pendaflex file.  I have a hanging file for each color and I just put the scraps in their folder.  It makes it easy to check for scraps when I need a particular color.  I do not keep the really small pieces, it's not worth it because they get damaged and wrinkled.  I also put these in the color families in the same order.  I bought this crate at Staples.

I like to have White cardstock as my first file since I use so much white for my cards and projects.

More From Fall Fest Event

I'm so happy to share more great samples from my Fall Fest Stamping Event.  These Inkredible girls are so talented!!  I LOVE these bows!  These amazing Angels and Bows were made by Annette Stewart using the Stampin' Up! Gift Bow Bigz L Die Cut (129977).  Click here to view in my Stampin' Up! Website

Every table at Fall Fest was decorated with its own unique banner.  They were all different and beautiful.  They were held together with a mason jar at each end.  Very cute and clever idea!!

The Big Shot Magnetic Platform is here...

I'm so excited that the the Big Shot Magnetic Platform will be available for purchase again starting Thursday, September 12.  This is such a great tool that makes using your framelits so easy and so precise.  It's a must have!!

Class Sneak Peak..

More sneak peaks at what I'm planning for my class projects this Friday...

Fall Fest Stampin' Up! Event

Yesterday we had our 2013 Fall Fest event.  This is an event that is open to all the demonstrators in my Stampin' Up! group.  It was so much fun and so inspiring.  We had a WOW Swap, regular card swaps, make and takes, tons of displays, door prizes and lots of brainstorming on ideas and best practices.

This is my WOW swap - a T-light Box using Stampin' Up! White Frost Specialty DSP.  The sold cardstock used was either Bermuda Bay or Island Indigo.

For the meeting swap I made a Sunburst card using Stampin' Up! Modern Medley 12x12 DSP.

These are some of the other WOW Swaps from my friend Laura Davis and Lilly Ruiz.  Laura made this awesome origami box using Stampin' Up! Modern Medley DSP.  And Lilly made this gorgeous ornament using Stampin' Up! White Frost Specialty DSP.

Craft Room Organizing Tips..

I'm glad to hear that people like when I post my organizing tips..  Below are some of the ways I organize my Stampin' Up! supplies and tools.  Enjoy!

This is how I store my Stampin' Up! Framelits.  I like to use the Stampin' Up! Clear DVD cases.  I keep them organized with magnetic sheets.  I cut the sheets down to size and glued them to the inside of the case... this keeps the framelits from falling and getting all mixed up and sloppy.

I'm re-posting this one... this is how I store my Clearmount Stamps. If you notice on the left -side, I also have some of my wood stamps in the new Stampin' Up! Clear Woodmount Cases.  This is a new item from Stampin' Up! in this year's catalog.  I used a template for the insert and I copied an image of the stamp set off the internet.  Click on the link for more information and to download the template.

And finally... this is how I store my Stampin' Up! die cuts.  I put all new labels on my die cuts because I found it hard to read the small print.

Hope you enjoy these tips...  more to come.

September Class Sneak Peak

I've already started working on my projects for my next class. My next monthly class will be on Friday, Sept 13 and I have a Stamp-A-Stack Class on Friday, Sept 27.

This is a sneak peak of a swap I am doing for my Fall Fest meeting this Saturday.  I think it turned out really nice... so nice that I am going to make it one of my projects this month. I will post more pictures and step by step instructions on how to make this Starburst Card.

Introducing the Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board

#133774     Envelope Punch Board     $19.95

  • It creates totally customizable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different color and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It’s super easy to use - It looks intimidating at first glance, but when you see that all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score you’ll go crazy (in a good way).
  • It’s small and lightweight - It’s small and light enough that you could use it while watching a soccer match, at a park, at a friend’s for craft night-anywhere.
  • It even has a slick scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It’s easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don’t have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won’t lose them!).
  • The price is terrific-especially for a tool that does so much!

Organizing Tip of the Day

I often get asked how I manage to do it all.  How I have time to stamp every day and prepare and host a stamping class every month and keep up with everything else in my personal life....  husband, mom of 2 boys, working full-time, household, etc.  My response is... if you love what you do, you find the time to fit it in.

For me the key to getting it all done is being organized.  What helps me is my "Stamping Fact Book".    I created my fact book shown below using the Levenger Circa System or you can use the Staples Arc System.  Basically it's a binder with removable pages and rings.  I will take you through a tour of my fact book and you will see why it is so great.

This is my go to book for everything I need.  I keep a running list of my Stampin' Up! supplies that I need so when I place an order, I know exactly what I need to order to replenish supplies.  The book is broken up by tabs:  Classes, Business, Projects, Customers...

This is a sample of what I have under my "Classes" tab.  This is where I sketch and paste pictures of what I plan to do in my monthly classes.  I plan each class at least a month or two ahead of time.  This allows me to plan ahead and order any cardstock, DSP or embellishments that I need for the class projects.  I print out many samples from other talented demonstrators to get inspired.  I usually take their ideas and put my own spin on them.

After each class is done, I pull out the sheets from that class and put them away in a folder.  This is so I can still review later if I need to, but pulling out the used pages keeps my book from getting too thick or bulky.  Below are some sample pages from my "Classes" tab that shows how I prep...

Below is a sample of the sheet I keep in the front of the book before all the tabs.  This is where I jot down what I need to order or items I want to try from the new catalog.  This helps me not to forget what I need for my upcoming classes or what I supplies I need to replenish.  After I place the order, I highlight the item so I know it's been ordered.

The rest of the tabs are mostly my notes/ideas.  The "Business" tab has my notes about my blog, business ideas, ideas on promotions, tutorials for my bog, ideas on how to grow my Stampin' Up! business, etc.  My "Customer" tab has a spreadsheet that lists all my customers and their contact information -- phone, e-mail, address, birthday, etc.  Lastly the "Project" tab has notes about projects I have going on with customers.  I often get asked to make favors for parties or invitations... this is where I keep those notes.  I am currently working on a memory book for a Ba Mitvah... I will post photos when I am done with the project.

Pretty much everything I do with Stampin' Up! is in this fact book.  I bring it with me to my Demo meetings and take notes or write down my ideas as they come to me.  Having everything in one place is great...  it sits on my craft table and it's my main source of information.

I hope my Stamping Fact Book inspires you to get organized!!

A new holiday-themed collection of single stamps are now available.  The holidays will be here before you know it and these holiday-themed single stamps may be just what the budge-conscious stamper needs.  There are eight different stamps to choose from, six of which coordinate with Framelits, dies or punches.

August Class Projects continued...

Ceramic Coasters...  Used Hodge Podge glue to adhere the Stampin' Up! DSP to the tiles.  Then we topped them off with another think layer of Hodge Podge on top to seal them and give a little sheen.  Love the way they turned out.  I even added felt cushions on the bottom so they don't scratch furniture.

Oh Happy Day card...  we made our own button on this card.  I taught the girls how to make a button using the 1" and 3/4" circle punches.

3x3 Mini Cards and holder.  Made card holder using the Fancy Favor Die Cut.  Used aqua pen for background effects..
